You didn't write about the tango show that you saw. I'm taking a copy of your blog so that we can check out some of your favorites. It figures that you would meet a priest in "plain clothes." Have a good holiday, and I'll call you when we get back.

A very interesting post, however, I wish i had read this article while you were here in Jordan so that I can offer to show you around, seeing Jordan through the eyes of a local is much more different than doing it your self with all the guide books, however If you ever came back then I will gladly to help you in whatever way i can :)

Cheers

One might guess that if a private firm could do better, they would in fact be doing so. The railroads escaped their passenger obligations in 1971, and since then (apart from a few, small tourist-oriented efforts) no firm has attempted to create a private, for-profit passenger rail business. That's not a coincidence.

I don't think it's fair to blame Amtrak or VIA for immigration and health issues - Canada and the US set those policies.

As for freight delays, the freights are obligated to permit Amtrak on their tracks, but the Federal DOT shows no sign of monitoring their compliance, so paying passengers like you have to wait while for-profit freight trains are given priority. Again, write your Congressman, but don't blame Amtrak.
